Week 17 (FYP 1)

Activity: Submission of Project Report Objective: To submit the report on time Content:  Make a final check and a little finishing on the report Convert the report format which is from Word (.docs) to PDF format (.pdf) Compile and extract the file into WinRAR Result: The file was sent to Sir Shaiful successfully The file was send via email Conclusion: After the submission, I continued on the study of my project. From all the research I’ve made, I was trying to create the system. This log book or blog will be continued on the next semester and it will be about my developing of the system.

Week 16 (FYP 1)

Activity: Preparing the Proposal Report & Check Plagiarism  Objective: To prepare a project report well before the submission deadline To get the result of plagiarism based on FYP criteria Content: I have compiled all the report in one set which is Chapter 1 Introduction, Chapter 2 Literature Review, and Chapter 3 Methodology. I also do some correction of words and also add some figures to complete the report of FYP1. Upload the report to Turnitin website to check the plagiarism  Result: The report is completed within the period given by the coordinator. The result of plagiarism has met the criteria given by the FYP coordinator which is not more than 20% Conclusion: After I have done all the report, I have sent the report to Sir Shaiful for review in case there have correction to be made

Week 15 (FYP 1)

Activity: Progress Report (Preliminary Result and Literature Review) Objective: To complete chapter 2 (Literature Review) and chapter 3 (Methodology) To make a good and detail summary of previous review To produce a expected result of the project  Content:  After I did some research on the previous study, I started to find out and summarize the important point about their study. To produce the result, i also do research on Internet and make a own simulation about the circuit of my project.  Result: The Chapter 2 is completed well For the preliminary result, I explain about the project flow from start until end on the report I also put the Blynk application interface when the motion is detected Arduino codes for connecting NodeMCU and Wi-Fi can also be generated. Conclusion: I hope Sir Shaiful is satisfied with the results of chapters 2 and 3 that I have completed.

Activity: Progress Report ( Product Diagram)  Objective: To produce neat and easy-to-understand project sketches. To build the project easily Content: After doing research on all those components, I started sketching this project The software used to sketch this project is using Photoshop and Paint 3D software I sketched this project by making all of the hardware is at top of plywood Label the important components of the diagram Result: There are two product diagram produced which is from the top view and front view Top view Front view sketch of this product based on the actual physical condition of the project I add wheel under the plywood to make the project easy to move Conclusion: With this product diagram I hope the work of building the project will be easier by next semester (FYP 2)

Activity: Research and Finding Objective: to know each component (hardware & software) in more detail to prepare a proposal report Content: List each component used in this project Do some research about function of the component Make a online survey of the price on the component Began drafting the project including improvement Result: This project is divided into two parts which is the hardware part and the software part The example of hardware that be used for this project is NodeMCU, Relay 4 Channel, PLC System, and the sensors (Infrared, Temperature, Motion sensors) The software that be used is CX-Programmer for PLC system, Arduino IDE for build a coding for Arduino system, Proteus for do a simulation and testing and Blynk application Sir Shaiful told me that I could borrow a PLC from a Unikl PLC lab so i can cut the cost for this project Blynk Application Logo CX- Programmer Arduino IDE Interface Conclusion: As a result of this study, I was able to make a project sketch more e...

Activity: Presentation Day Objective: To make a smooth and good presentation To get some views and opinions from assessor To find out the weaknesses of this project Content: The presentation started at 2.00 pm at Microsoft Teams Each student is included in several groups based on their assessor. My group is No. 3 under the assessor Sir Nor Azman and Madam Nulida Both lecturers are Electrical Engineering Technology and senior lecturer. Madam Nulida (NAA) Sir Nor Azman (MANO) Result: The whole presentation went well. Conclusion: For the conclusion, in this presentation, I have to improve my project for the better in the future and easy to understood for the reader to continue the research that had been done. I must improve a certain part in the proposal report.

Activity: Design a Presentation Slide and Discussion with Supervisor Objective: to make a good presentation slide to prepare for the presentation in the 12th week to seek views and advice from supervisors Content: Make a presentation slide based on the FYP criteria set by the coordinator. The slide contains Introduction, Problem Statement, Literature Review, Methodology and Result. The section to be concerned about is a summary of the Literature Review After completing the slide, I met and discussed with Sir Shaiful to review the slide and give advice on the presentation later Result: After Sir Shaiful reviewed the slide, it gave an overview of the Flowchart section and Estimated costs on the project. Sir Shaiful also gave some advice during the presentation later. Conclusion: After being satisfied with the slide, I can proceed to the next task which is to record the presentation video to be played on the presentation day next week. Activity: Design a Flow Chart Objective: To explain each process going on in this project more clearly. To improve communication To make problem solving Content: Learn and study each shape on the flowchart because each shape on the flowchart has its own function. Make a draft of process flow of the project before transform to flowchart design Create a simple flowchart for people to understand the project works. Result: Can create a complete flowchart related to Stamping Machine. If there are any problems while operating the machine, this flowchart can be used for reference. Conclusion: This flowchart can also make the presentation process easier because the assessors can understand the project easily.

Activity: Produce the Block Diagram for the overall System Objective: To identify the overall system of the project. To better understand how the system works. For preparation on the day of the presentation. Content: List the main hardware and software of this project. Understand the flow of work processes in this project from start to finish. Understand the function and connection for each component Result: After completing the Block Diagram, we can see the relationship between each component It start from the power source and will end to the user device which is through Blink App The components that play a major role here are PLC, Pneumatic and Arduino NodeMCU. Pneumatic can move with the help of an additional air compressor. Conclusion: Through this Block Diagram, I will be able to better understand and be able to explain more clearly about how this project works to evaluators during the presentation day later.

Activity: Discussion with Supervisor Objective: To ask for opinions and views on the proposal to add a Current Sensor to the project. To check the progress report Content: Mr. Shaiful would like to meet and discuss progress on my project We discuss in his office in the Electrical Department I asked Sir Shaiful for his opinion on the proposal to add Current Sensor to the existing project. Give all the results of the study i obtained regarding the sensor to Sir Shaiful Result: after discussing and researching the project, my proposal to add a Current Sensor will not proceed. this is because it will require a lot of cost and hard work Furthermore, This project already has MCB. MCB will turn off the electrical circuit automatically during abnormal conditions in the electrical network such as overload conditions & short circuits Sir Shaiful suggested me to improve the project externally and repair the damaged parts. Activity:  2nd Briefing of FYP1 Objective: To brief out about guideline to do chapter 1 introduction and chapter 2 literature review on report Content: Introduction and Literature Review (Identify the project). Technical proposal writing. (Basically come out with 7 subpoints included the chapter of summary) Briefing detail: Result: Understand the significance of writing a good technical proposal for FYP 1. Understand the correct ways of writing a solid introduction and literature review chapters in the technical proposal. Conclusion: I can be more prepared and write these two chapters with good writing skills. The student also encourage to submit the draft of these two chapters early to supervisors for his review.

Activity:  Make a research on the new sensor which is current sensor Objective: To understand more detail about how current sensor work  To figure out that current sensor is suitable to use in this project Content:  make some research  about the connection between current sensor and any loads make a research to know the circuit diagram and Arduino coding to programmed the sensor Result: The information that i get from the research, the current sensor ACS712 can use at any load DC or AC.  The input   voltage is +5V for typical applications ACS712 Current Sensor Sensor Specifications: Measures both AC and DC current Provides isolation from the load Easy to integrate with MCU, since it outputs analog voltage Circuit Diagram for the sensor and load Conclusion: Based on the information, the current sensor is quite easy to install in the stamping machine. Nevertheless, I need to discuss with Sir Shaiful whether he agrees or he has other additional ideas...

Activity:  Study on  Literature Review  Objective: To get information from previous studies about similar project or similar concept Content: I get a reference regarding the project through the internet The reference to be sought is regarding the Stamping Machine or PLC or sensors used Result: After doing some research, I found three suitable articles for reference. The review is about the similar sensor that have been used in my project which is Temperature sensor and Motion Sensor The majority of the review use the sensor for security purpose The first review is focus on temperature monitoring on server room that use Raspberry Pi and DHT-11 The second review is focus on home security which is use motion sensor to motion detection and Phyton Script. it also use Raspberry Pi as IoT platform The third review also focus on home security which is use motion sensor but it use GSM technology is used to send SMS notifications to owner during an intrusion Conclusion: After ...

  Activity: make a study of Stamping Machine Objective: To find out the the important components used in the project Understand the process, function and how the machine works Content: I need to research how the project works like how metal sheets are formed. I also need to know what the PLC system is for what it is for the project. understand how temperature sensors and motion sensors can be programmed. Result: The project is contain solenoid valve, air compressor, pneumatics, sensors and PLC system It combine IoT, PLC and pneumatics The PLC is to program the solenoid valve and the IoT to make the sensor works. Pneumatic Cylinder Conclusion: After doing the research, I was able to find out more details about the project and will think about the reforms that will be made. I will add a Current Sensor to the project to find out the amount of Current flowing in the project.

  Activity: Discussion with Supervisor   Objective: To find out more about the project. To obtain information related to FYP2 2020 students who developed the project. Content: After the meeting with Sir Shaiful, I made some basic research about the title and I felt interesting to complete this project. Mr. Shaiful told me to contact the student who is developing the project, Micheal. Micheal is an Electrical Technology student under Mr. Shaiful's supervisor. He is currently undergoing industrial training in Kuala Lumpur.   Result: After I contacted Micheal, I got more detailed information about the project. The project is a Stamping Machine based on PLC and IoT The IoT used is to find out the current temperature and warn if there is movement.   Activity: FYP Briefing by FYP coordinator and discussion with Supervisor   Objective: FYP briefing is to inform students on how to register project titles and remind students of important dates. Discussions with supervisors on project options as well as project titles.        Content: The briefing was conducted in Microsoft Team Meeting and the attendance of all the student that are taking the FYP 1 was compulsory. Detail about the briefing:  Add caption The students were required to carefully select the title of the project. For diploma students, the title must reflect the capability and knowledge of a degree student. Students may select the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas. Result:   After discussing with Mr. Shaiful about the project, he suggested I continue the previous semester project which is Stamping Machine.   Activity: Search FYP Supervisor & FYP title selection   Objective: To find a FYP Supervisor to provide guidance on how to plan and assist in  FYP preparation especially in proposal and final report.  To produce a suitable title for FYP before submitting it to the FYP supervisor        Content: Students are given a period of 5 weeks to find a supervisor before registering the project title in the FYP UniKL BMI website FYP coordinators say students should prepare appropriate projects and  topics before finding the desired supervisor and need to discuss with the  supervisor. The supervisor should be selected based on the student course. for example, if the student course is BETEE, the student should find a lecturer in electrical department.   Result: After doing research and following the advice of friends and seniors, I chose Sir Mohd Shaiful B.
